Chapter 1.04
When they arrive at the university, the cab pulls over, and stops next to the sidewalk.
“It will be $35.75". She hands him the money. The cabbie pockets the money and exits the cab. He opens the back and pulls her suitcases out to place them on the sidewalk, there is a row of trees evenly space apart near the curb. As he place the third and final suitcase on the sidewalk, a red hair girl in a black eyelet skirt suit about Zi age maybe a little older, walks up.
The cabbie turns to Zi and says, "It's been a pleasure ma'am". He reenters the cab and takes off.
The girl walks up to Zi and says,” Hi, I’m Emma”, as she extends her hand.
"Hi, Katie, Katie west", grabbing her hand to shake.
”I’m the resident assistant, RA for short”. Zi start to grab her suitcases.
“If you need anything come and see me.” When she grabs the second suitcase, a young teenage girl walks up and steals her third. The thief runs off. Emma frozen with shock, her eyes fully open, mouth wide-open look. Zi immediately drops her suitcases, and yells to Emma,
“Watch my things for me please”, as she takes off after the thief.
The thief was fast, but Zi was able to close in. They went around corners, in between buildings. It seem like they were running forever. Nevertheless, she was determined not to lose her suitcase. Finally, the girl ran into a grassy area that was enclosed by tall buildings with a privacy fence in-between each building, there was no way to escape.
"Baaack Off!" The girl pulls out a knife and lunges. Still moving forward Zi leaps pulling her right shoulder back and at the same time, she dips her left shoulder down, while pulling out a small black leather pouch from her left sleeve. As the knife passes her, she shoots the pouch over top the lunging arm and across thief face so the content of the pouch enters the girl's eyes. In what seems like one swift move. While still in the air, she pulls her knees up and wraps her arms around them. She tumbles across her back, hops up onto her feet in a back stance where she is sideways with her right foot is forward, both knees are bent, with a little over half of her weight on her back leg, she has her battle face on, eyes lock on target and was ready to continue the fight. However, the fight was over almost before it began.
"My eyes my eyes, you bitch you blinded me", screaming with tears filling her eyes.
